The proliferation of digital communication platforms has fundamentally altered the linguistic landscape of Central Asia and the post-Soviet space. This article presents a comprehensive linguistic analysis of lexical borrowings in Russian-language and Uzbek-language social network discourse, examining how these borrowed elements function as markers of intercultural identity among users. Drawing on a corpus of approximately 12,000 posts, comments, and user profiles collected from VKontakte, Telegram, Instagram, and TikTok between 2021 and 2024, the study employs a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative corpus analysis with qualitative sociolinguistic interpretation. The research identifies five dominant borrowing categories: techno-lexical anglicisms, youth subcultural vocabulary, professional jargon, emotionally expressive slang, and translingual hybrid formations. Findings demonstrate that borrowings do not merely fill lexical gaps but actively perform identity work, allowing users to simultaneously position themselves within global digital culture and local community norms. Specifically, Uzbek-language users exhibit code-switching patterns that reflect a tripartite identity negotiation between Uzbek national identity, Russian-language Soviet and post-Soviet heritage, and globally dominant English-mediated digital culture. Russian-language users in Uzbekistan show parallel but distinct strategies, incorporating Uzbek lexical items to signal regional belonging and solidarity. The study contributes to ongoing debates about digital multilingualism, language contact in cyberspace, and the sociolinguistics of online identity construction in non-Western digital contexts.
